About Me
I am Lydia Peters, a fine artist and educator with over 30 years of experience. My work is a journey into the "Inward Canvas" - "Architect of Peace"—the private, internal space where we seek healing and quiet away from the noise of the world.
My work lives at the intersection of structural Cubism, the raw energy of Basquiat, and the clarity of Minimalism. I use bold, geometric shapes and a signature palette of high-contrast black and white to explore complex emotions. By stripping away the unnecessary, I allow the form and the feeling to take center stage.
The recurring "bent neck" in my figures is a deliberate symbol of protection and self-reflection. It represents the act of turning away from external influences to focus on the internal journey. It is a posture of contemplation, a way of "blocking out" to find inner peace and strength.
With a specialty in painting, I focus on the balance of color against monochromatic backgrounds or vise vera. Every piece is a meditation on life’s journey, designed to offer the viewer a moment of mental relaxation and a space for their own reflection.
